'The Old World' depicts a woman’s connection to nature and all things wild. Through symbolism it reflects instinct, intuition, resilience and the untamed spirit that can be felt deep in the bones. My connection to the old things, the ancient forces of nature that existed long before modern civilisation - feels deeply intrinsic to who I am. It is a source of creative lifeforce and inspiration, and the very reason I paint landscapes. Through our connection to the land, we are reminded of something ancient, authentic and enduring within ourselves.
