ABOUT ARTWORK
I was fortunate to live by the beach, surrounded by a lovely garden and enjoying the coastal views of Sister's Beach in the Rocky Cape region. This spot is not only the most picturesque I have ever experienced but also provides a fascinating glimpse into Tasmania's formation and origins.
When strolling along Sister's Beach, you can't help but notice the varying and distinctive rock formations that hug its coastline, and I believe they are part of what makes Sisters Beach so beautiful and special. I had the pleasure of learning some interesting history about these rock formations.
Studies have revealed that the coastal rock formations directly Infront of this property and beyond are in fact some of the oldest rocks found on Earth.
The name 'NUNA' refers to the ancient supercontinent of Nuna, from which Tasmania separated from eons ago.
Analysing the rocks revealed that sediments from Montana, Idaho, British Columbia in the US, and Tasmania were all linked due to their shared history as part of the supercontinent; Nuna. This discovery has led scientists to speculate that Tasmania did not have a connection to mainland Australia as they first believed, but instead had its origins in North America.
While I have created a fair few paintings of Sisters beach, my goal was to encompass all the elements I adore about this location in one colourful scene. With its homely, picturesque, and peaceful atmosphere - like many others, I hold Sisters Beach dear to my heart.
